Databases play a crucial role in Data Science, as they serve as the foundation for storing, retrieving, managing, and organizing large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Databases allow data scientists to store large datasets efficiently and retrieve them quickly using query languages like SQL.
He will be covering the topics listed below and will conduct the sessions on alternate days. We encourage everyone to join and take full advantage of this learning opportunity.
1. Role of SQL – Core language for managing and analyzing structured data.
2. Database Types – Relational (SQL) vs Non-Relational (NoSQL) systems.
3. MSSQL Introduction – Editions, installation, and architecture overview.
4. SQL vs NoSQL – Key differences and when to use each.
5. ACID Properties & Normalization – Ensures data integrity and efficient design.
6. Data Files & Types – Understanding MSSQL file structure and data types.
7. T-SQL Basics – SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, Filtering, Joins.
8. Functions & Subqueries – Aggregates, string functions, and nested queries.
9. Database Objects – Creating tables, keys, indexes, constraints, views.
10. Advanced T-SQL – CTEs, window functions, PIVOT/UNPIVOT for complex queries.
